FG, ITC Collaborate To Break Women Trading Barrier In Nigeria

It was an event organised by the Nigerian Government in conjunction with the United Kingdom’s International Trade Center (ITC) funded scheme to grow women businesses through trainings, access to resources and exposure to the international market.

The UK government “She Trades Commonwealth plus Programme,” hosted by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC, with the theme “Trading Beyond Borders,” is aimed at improving women participation in businesses.

Delivery a keynote address, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole lauds the role women play in the economic growth and development of Nigeria.

The acting British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gill Oliver and the representative of the Executive Director, International Trade Center, Senior Advisor, She Trades Hub in West Africa, Fatou Mbenga Jallow acknowledged women economic empowerment in achieving gender equality.

Earlier, the Executive Director, NEPC, Nonye Ayeni said it was imperative that as a country, the women-led Small and Medium Enterprises are empowered to take advantage of the immense opportunities that technology and globalisation present to businesses.

The two-day UK-powered programme also availed participants the opportunity of exhibiting their products and services.
