Aviation Sector Gets Boost As FG, NCAA Sign IDERA.

The federal government has signed the updated Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) procedure for Recordation of Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorization, (IDERA) and Aircraft registration to enhance compliance with international standards.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the Director General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Chris Najomo signed the updated NCAA, IDERA document at a press conference held in Abuja.

The Minister said the ceremony marks a significant step in aligning Nigeria’s aviation industry with international standards, particularly the Cape Town Convention to which Nigeria is a signatory. 

Keyamo said the updated IDERA procedure will simplify the deregistration and export process for aircraft, providing greater confidence to global financiers and lessors, while improving the overall efficiency of the sector.

On his part, the Acting Director General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Captain Chris Najomo, said the initiative would help foster trust between Nigerian operators and international financial institutions. 

It is expected that implementation of the updated NCAA, IDERA procedure will bring about long-term sustainability and transformation in the nations aviation industry.
