The federal government says over 2,000 vandals have been arrested in the last one year with 550 currently under prosecution and 122 convictions already secured.
Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja to mark his one year in office.
Tunji- Ojo who indicated zero tolerance for vandalism and other related vices reaffirmed government commitment to the protection of critical infrastructure across the country.
The Minister also spoke on some of the accomplishments recorded in the Nigeria immigration service, including the clearing of over 200,000 passport applications.
The impacts in the correctional service and fire service were also mentioned at the briefing.
The Minister also promised to give priority to staff welfare and motivation ,a gesture that is already yielding the desired results with the promotion of over 53,000 paramilitary officers in the last 10 months.
