As part of efforts to improve trade facilitation as well as address issues of export rejects in the international market, the Nigerian Government has revealed plans to unveil a National Standardisation Strategy to enhance the development of standards for emerging locally-produced goods and services.
This was made known in Abuja at a one day sensitisation workshop for members of Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria, CICAN, organised by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON.
According to the standards agency, a technical committees, made up of experts from different backgrounds have been assembled to create various templates for standards in the country.
The standards agency also said advanced digital tools with topnotch security features have been introduced to improve standards conformity of both locally manufactured and imported products.
SON however, expressed commitment to improve its communication with stakeholders at all levels for the growth and development of the nation’s economy.
