Cross River, Benue States Win Big In FCCPC Annual Schools Contest

Winners of the 7th Edition of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s National Young Consumer Contest Awards 2023 have emerged.

The Competition which was on two categories saw Freedom Omenyi of the Benue State University, Makurdi clinched the star prize of the Tertiary category, Ifeanyi Victoria from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka came second as Zainab Opeyemi of the Lagos State University got the third position.

On the Secondary category, the first position was won by Southern Unity High School, Calabar, Cross River State, Ibira Muslim Community College, Okene Kogi State came second while Esteemed Standard High School, Jos, Plateau State, got the third position.

Addressing the participating schools, Executive Vice Chairman, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, Babatunde Irukera called on Nigerian youths to adopt the use of digital technology to be at par with their contemporary in other climes.

He said digital technology is where the future lies as such should be taken seriously by the young population adding that if the future is digital, fiscal responsibility is key to addressing corruption.

The FCCPC boss noted that Nigeria has become a hub for digital companies as six technology companies with a market capitalisation of $1billion was birthed in the last eight years. The theme for the 7th National Consumer Contest Awards 2023 is Fair Digital Finance.
