The Federal Government says it will use innovation to optimise the contribution of traditional medicine to Universal health coverage and sustainable development.
Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa,who gave the indication at a ministerial briefing to mark the 2023 African Traditional Medicine (ATM) Day celebration in Abuja, said the nation’s health care plan under the present administration will focus on improving and encourage funding for local research of new drugs and vaccines.
Represented by the Director Human Resources Department of the Ministry, Hassan Salau, the Minister explained the resolve to tap on the gains already recorded in traditional medicine to drive the nations health care delivery system.
Some development partners also spoke on the significance of traditional medicine in the African Region healthcare delivery system.
The theme for the 2023 African Traditional Medicine Day is : The Contribution of Traditional Medicine to Holistic Health and Well-being for All.
