That was Prof Bolade Ayola, Chief Technical Adviser to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC reeling out the do’s and dont’s guiding the coverage of the 2023 general election for both domestic and foreign observers.
Sitted in the hall are over 100 local and international observers accredited by INEC to cover the 25th February and March 11th general elections.
Addressing the observers, Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu reminded them of a code of conduct for election observation as outlined in relevant session of the constitution which they are expected to adhere to.
Yakubu who acknowledged the contributions of various observers report to the growth of Nigeria’s democracy said over 146,000 election observers have been accredited to monitor the 2023 election.
Earlier in her remarks,the International Foundation for Electoral System IFES Regional Director for Adrica,Clara Cole applauded the enthusiasm to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process.
Some of the international observers mission already in the country includes delegation from the Commonwealth,African Union among others.
