Zaria Massacre: Shiites Mark 7th Anniversary, Blame Buhari For Killings
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria otherwise known as Shiites have insisted that president Muhammadu Buhari is to blame for the alleged massacre of over 1000 of their members by the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State on Saturday, 12 December 2015.
The Group gave the indication at the 7th anniversary of the massacre held in Abuja with the theme, Zaria Massacre: A Theater of Rage, Violence and Mass Murder. Speaking on the topic, History and Politics of Military Brutality in Nigeria: A Comparative Analysis Between Zaria Massacre and other Genocides, the guest speaker, Prof Isah Hassan Mshelgaro described the Buhari administration as the worst in human rights violation.
A survivor of the massacre, Hajiya Jummai Karok who expressed sadness over the loss of her five children during the incident dismissed hope of getting justice.
The followers of the Shiites spiritual lead, Ibraheem EL Zakzaki however declared their colleagues who died in the clash with soldiers in Zaria as heroes of their faith.
