The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee has held an interactive session with the PDP’s gubernatorial candidates across the country ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Rivers State governorship candidate, Siminialayi Fubara who is a god son of the incumbent governor Nyesom Wike was conspicuously absent from the meeting that was held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. The absence of Fubara and other allies of Wike is believed to be unconnected with the faceoff between the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the leadership of the party over the outcome of the presidential primary election.
Speaking after the meeting, PDP National Chairman, Iyiorcha Ayu said the candidates briefed the party leadership of the various efforts they are making to win their elections. In an interview with journalists, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed who attended the meeting denied knowledge of Wike and other PDP governors meeting the Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London. Some of the party’s governorship candidates that attended the meeting include, Oborevwori Sheriff of Delta, Ifeanyi Odii of Ebonyi, Peter Mbah of Enugu, among others.
