The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC, says revenue generated from non-oil exports in the first half of 2022 is the highest being recorded since 2018.
The NEPC Executive Director Ezra Yakusak, who disclosed at a news conference in Abuja aimed at presenting the agency’s 2022 half year results said the revenue increased to about two point six billion dollars from January to June this year again about one point six billion dollars recorded in the same period of the preceding year.
He said the latest report marks a sixty two point three seven percent increase compared to what was obtainable in 2021. The NEPC boss also spoke on the different types of revenue generating products that were exported and its impact on the nation’s economy.
He further highlighted collaborative effort of the council with line agencies to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, AFCFTA to make Nigeria compete favourably with other countries.
He however, pointed out that Urea and Fertiliser recorded over thirty two percent of total export of the top fifteen exported products in the first six months of 2022.
