ECOWAS Employment Scandal: MPs Order Suspension Of Recruitment Exercise

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) parliament has called for the suspension of the ongoing recruitment exercise untill grey areas in its audit report are addressed.

This position was canvassed in a motion moved and seconded by Nigeria’s delegations to the just concluded 2022 first ordinary session of the ECOWAS parliament in Abuja, Honourable, Awaji Abiante and Senator, Biodun Olujimi.

The Members of parliament urged the Bureau not to treat the audit report with levity based on the weighty nature of the petitions before them adding that review of condition of service for staff that have been stagnated for about ten years is paramount for the seek of justice and equity.

The Speaker of the session who is originally the first Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Ahmed Wase assured the parliamentarians of the Bureau’s commitment to ensure that justice is done for the benefit of the fifteen member states.

Senator Abiodun Olujimi in an interview further shed more light to the development.

Concerns were also raised on sundry issues by parliamentarians.

The 2022 first ordinary session of the ECOWAS parliament in Abuja, the Nigerian’s capital city came to a close with assurances for a better, viable and prosperous sub-region.
