Just In: Nigeria Prioritises Resuscitating Ailing Health Sector, Vows To Use Tax Proceeds
Nigeria has been adjudged to be one of the countries with the highest infant and maternal deaths world over contributing more than 10% of global maternal deaths. Reasons for these deaths was attributed to poor implementation of the National Health Act despite its enactment in 2014. To correct this narrative, the Nigerian Government through its Ministry of Budget and National Planning engaged stakeholders to find a permanent solution to the issue of medical tourism by properly funding as well as utilising budgetary allocation to the healthcare sector.
