2022 ICT Day: NCC Takes Campaign For More Girls In ICT To GSTC Garki.
The International Day of the Girls’ in ICT is a yearly event commemorated every last Thursday of April to encourage equal participation in International and Communication Technology.
The initiative which was birthed from the International Telecommunications Union is also a global effort to raise awareness on empowering and encouraging girls and young women to consider studies and careers in ICT.
While commemorating the day in Abuja, the Nigerian Communications Communications visited Government Science Technical College, Garki for a sensitisation programme aimed at educating the students on the need to get involved with Technology as well as stay Safe even while in ICT.
Taking turns to make presentations, representatives from the NCC spoke on need to improve and promote opportunities for girls to gain from the Internet.
Addressing Journalist shortly after the programme, the Matron of GSTC ICT Club, Nusirat Atoyebi who appreciated the NCC for the gesture further made case for establishment of ICT laboratory in the school.
On her part, Emmanualla Freshman, a member of the ICT club reacted on the impact of the Programme especially as it relates to exploring the internet in pursuit of further education goals.
The Theme for this year’s Girls’ in ICT celebration is “Access and Safety”.
