Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire has reiterated the federal government’s commitment to improve the National Population policy to ensure access to quality health to Nigerians.
This is as the government is accelerating the implementation of fertility control interventions, integrate family planning and child birth spacing to scale up meaningful control of the country’s population growth as well as economic growth rates. Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this at the ministerial briefing on COVID-19 and other health development issues in Abuja.
Dr Ehinare further indicated resolve to have a more than contraceptive prevalence rate of consumption percent by year 2030 and sustainably increase to 65% by 2050.
Also, the National Coordinator Malaria Elimination Programme, Perpetua Uhomoibhi revealed that the World Bank was providing 200 million dollars loan to fund malaria intervention programme in 13 states of the Federation.
Other health agencies and representatives at the briefing also gave an update on their achievements so far.
Meanwhile, the health minister has reminded Nigerians on the need to to continue to adhere to the Covid 19 precautionary measures when necessary saying the pandemic is yet to be over.
