Troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intercepted a Boko Haram/ISWAP extortion mission in Yobe State, killing one suspected terrorist and recovering vehicles, ammunition, and medical supplies.

The operation was carried out following credible intelligence regarding two Volkswagen Golf vehicles and motorcycles carrying suspected terrorists who were en route to collect illegal levies from local communities.

In response, troops from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bukarti, collaborating with the 27 Task Force Brigade, launched an aggressive fighting patrol toward the Paya Kafiya axis on Sunday, July 19.

According to a press statement by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East, troops engaged the suspects in a firefight, immobilising one of the vehicles and neutralising its driver.

Four other suspects reportedly fled into the surrounding bush with gunshot wounds.

During follow-up exploitation operations conducted on Monday, July 20, along the Paya Kafiya Garin Gada axis, troops recovered the abandoned Volkswagen Golf vehicle.
Items retrieved from the scene included:
25 rounds of belted PKT ammunition
One loaded AK-47 magazine
15 empty PKT ammunition cases
Assorted medications, including paracetamol and nicotine products
Mechanical tools used for logistics and maintenance
Military authorities emphasized that Operation HADIN KAI will continue to conduct intelligence-driven offensive operations in synergy with other security agencies to disrupt terrorist funding and logistics networks in the North East.
