Senior journalists from seven African countries have highlighted China’s targeted poverty alleviation strategies as a vital blueprint for development across the Global South.
The declaration was made by Idehai Frederick, Head of the African Mainstream Media Delegation, during an official visit to Ma Hui, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) in Beijing.
The meeting marked the conclusion of a comprehensive 10-day study tour.
Reflecting on the delegation’s field visits to Ningxia, Frederick pointed to local agricultural initiatives, such as technology-driven goji berry farming and rural cooperative market models, as concrete examples of successful targeted policy.
He noted that China’s achievement of lifting over 800 million people out of poverty serves as an important lesson in political will and long-term planning.
”The Ningxia model of leveraging local strengths, the role of digital tools in agriculture, and the emphasis on long-term planning are lessons we will take back to our newsrooms,” Frederick said, referencing the delegation’s return to major hubs including Abuja, Johannesburg, Nairobi, and Addis Ababa.
The delegation emphasized that the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics during the tour provided a clear framework for how vision, strict discipline, and public accountability can transform rural economies.
