The Federal Government of Nigeria has called on the Houthi militia in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to exercise maximum restraint and immediately de-escalate ongoing tensions and reported attacks between both parties.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (No: MFA/PR/2026/170) and signed by spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the government expressed deep concern over the situation, warning that further hostilities pose a grave risk to civilian lives, as well as regional peace and stability.

Abuja urged all involved parties to refrain from actions that could inflame the situation and instead prioritize diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful resolution in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.

Reaffirming its commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes, the Nigerian government stated its readiness to support all constructive and genuine efforts aimed at reducing tensions, restoring calm, and promoting lasting peace in the region.
