In a move to bolster Nigeria’s security architecture, the Minister of Defence, General CG Musa (Rtd), paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to formalize a more robust strategic partnership between the nation’s defence and internal security agencies.
The high-level meeting focused on establishing a unified approach to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders while simultaneously ensuring internal stability and public safety. Both ministers emphasized that the synchronization of territorial defence and domestic law enforcement is critical to a resilient national security framework.
Key discussions centered on three primary pillars:
Enhanced Coordination: Streamlining efforts between the Armed Forces and agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
Intelligence Sharing: Establishing more efficient channels for transferring actionable data between agencies.
Operational Synergy: Ensuring joint effectiveness in responding to security threats.
The meeting was attended by the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, along with other heads of agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
Officials stated that this partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which prioritizes a seamless security strategy. By integrating the strengths of both ministries, the government aims to create a more secure environment where territorial integrity and internal peace are mutually reinforced.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment from both ministers to ensure that Nigeria’s security apparatus remains “unshaken” through consistent collaboration.
