APC National Chairman Warns Aspirants Against Indiscipline Ahead of 2027 Primaries

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has issued a stern warning to party aspirants, stating that any individual found instigating violence or undermining the integrity of the forthcoming primaries will face severe sanctions, including immediate suspension.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Professor Yilwatda emphasized that the party will not allow individual ambitions to jeopardize its stability or the nation’s democratic process. The warning follows the recent screening of aspirants for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Strict Discipline and Party Supremacy

The Chairman stressed that the APC is committed to conducting transparent, credible, and peaceful primaries. He urged all contenders to approach the exercise with “statesmanship and maturity,” reminding them that the party’s collective interest remains paramount.

”The leadership of the party would not tolerate any act capable of disrupting the smooth conduct of the primaries,” Yilwatda warned. “Any aspirant or supporter found sponsoring unrest or engaging in anti-party activities will face severe disciplinary measures.”

Acknowledging that democratic contests inevitably produce only one winner, Yilwatda called on aspirants to display good sportsmanship and embrace the outcomes of the internal polls to strengthen the party’s internal democracy.

Support for the “Renewed Hope” Agenda

Professor Yilwatda also used the medium to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts in strengthening democratic institutions. He credited the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda with laying a foundation for economic recovery, despite inheriting significant structural challenges.

The Chairman highlighted several key milestones of the current administration, including:

  • Economic Goals: A strategic roadmap toward attaining a $1 trillion economy.
  • Infrastructure: Massive road and rail projects across all geopolitical zones and the revitalization of the ports.
  • Social Interventions: Support for SMEs, digital economy initiatives, and agricultural reforms aimed at boosting food security.

Call for Unity Toward 2027

Closing the statement, the National Chairman urged party stakeholders to remain united and avoid utterances that could create internal divisions or overheat the polity. He called on the party faithful to mobilize support for the President’s reelection in 2027, arguing that the administration’s achievements in infrastructure and economic reform provide a compelling case for continuity.

Professor Yilwatda reaffirmed that the APC leadership remains committed to fairness and justice, ensuring that the party continues to provide “purposeful leadership” for the country.
