Foreign Affairs Ministry Celebrates Jimoh Ibrahim’s Election as UN Budget Committee Chair​

The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim following his election as the Chairman of the United Nations Budget and Administration Committee.
​In a statement signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, described the election as a significant achievement that reflects Nigeria’s growing stature and active engagement within the global multilateral system.
​According to the Ministry, Amb. Ibrahim’s election demonstrates the international community’s confidence in Nigeria’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the management and administration of the United Nations.
​The Federal Government welcomed the development, viewing it as a recognition of the country’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and global governance. The statement emphasized that Nigeria remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability within the UN system.
​Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu expressed confidence that the newly elected chairman will leverage his extensive expertise and distinguished record of service to successfully discharge his responsibilities during his tenure.
​The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reaffirmed Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with other UN Member States to advance shared global goals of peace, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
