The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN says it is set to train 45,000 teachers on digital literacy and remote learning. The TRCN registrar, Professor Josiah Ajiboye disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja.
Prof Ajiboye said the training is part of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) COVID-19 response programme through the support of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
He added that the teachers will be drawn from the 24 states as modalities are being put on place to cover the remaining states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the council, the initiative is expected to bridge the gap created by the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic which severely affected the nation’s education system.
The first phase of the training programme will take place between the 21st and 26th February, 2022 in Benue , Enugu, Kaduna and Sokoto states .
