Residents of umumuzi, ukwa west Local Government Area of Abia state on Tuesday 15 February 2022 woke up to news of an attack on their community that claimed nine lives of Northern origin including 56 cows by unknown gun men.
Reports as stated by the Northern Concensus Movement indicates that unspecified amount of money including properties were carted away by the assailants.
Describing the trend as one attack too many on northerners in the south east, the group at a news conference in Abuja, condemned the development and called on both the federal and State authorities to do the needful.
President of NCM, Comrade Awwal Aliyu who warned that the attackers might be on a mission to spark religious tension in the country however urged northerners residing in the eastern part of the country to return home for their safety.
The Movement further indicated reasons why most agitations across the country must be addressed through dialogue.
They further called on cattle dealers and affiliates that engages in transportation of cows ,foodstuffs and other perishable goods to the south to stop forthwith untill their safety is guaranteed.
