Operational activities of Troops of the Armed forces of Nigeria have continued to yield significant result in the fight against insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, Oil bunkering among other crimes in the country.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Bernard Onyeuko who stated this at a press briefing to update Nigerians on the strides recorded by troops from 20 January – 10 February 2022 said 120 terrorists have been neutralized by troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno and Yobe state.
The feat which Gen. Onyeuko said was achieved in diverse Operations conducted by troops in different locations in the states also resulted to the recovering of large cache of arms and ammunition with about 965 terrorists and their families surrendering to troops.
He also added that several ISWAP Commanders were neutralized by an air interdiction carried out within the period under review. The Director also highlighted activities of troops of operation Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke which he said contributed immensely to the elimination and arrest of criminals as well as rescue of kidnapped victims in the North east and North Central regions. Also,45 illegal refining sites, 137 metal storage, 2,531,000 Automotive Gas Oil among others were recovered in the south south region by troops of operation Delta Safe.
The Millitary High Command while applauding the troops for their sacrifices and commitment urged the General Public to continue to avail the security forces with credible and timely information that will aid it’s proactive operational engagements in the Country.
