The Coalition of Unemployed Graduates in Nigeria has applauded the bill seeking to create the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund, noting that it has a potential of generating one million jobs annually if passed into law.
The bill which has passed second reading at the national assembly is intended to provide adequate funding for serving Corps members and as such, save them of endless search for government jobs. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the convener,
Comrade Emmanuel Odenmalu, said the Trust Fund is a unique opportunity for the country to harness the potentials of its bustling youthful population for sustainable growth and development.
The convener also applauded the NYSC for conceiving the idea, adding that it is a function of strategic thoughts on finding solutions to challenges of job creation in the country.
While commending the National Assembly for ensuring that the bill passed second reading, the group has urged the legislators to ensure its speedy passage.
