Global Fund: Stakeholders Applaud Interventions As Anniversary Torch Heads To Ghana.

The Torch caravan is one of the series of activities Organised to celebrate Global Fund 20th anniversary of saving lives. The initiative tagged from Cape to Cairo designed by the Global Fund advocates Network (GFAN) Africa and it’s partners is expected to pass across 20 countries starting from Cape Town South Africa in June this year,navigating through several countries to Cairo Egypt in December. Nigeria having received the caravan torch from Burkina Faso on 15th October, is to hand it over to Ghana at this event in Abuja. As expected, the occasion attracted strong participation from the nation’s health systems including the first vice chairman country coordination mechanism CCM Nigeria Mrs Maureen Onyia- Ekwuazi who in her remarks reflected on the impact of Global Fund in the past 20 years. The Representative of UNAIDS, Caroline Olwande, on her part called for further strengthening of the Global Fund investment plan in Nigeria to save more lives. The Global Fund was created as financial institution to support the countries in dire need to fight the scourge of HIV, Tuberculosis and health systems of which Nigeria and other 119 countries are beneficiaries.
