The National Orientation Agency (NOA),is saddled with the responsibility to raise awareness, positively change attitudes, values and behaviours accurately and adequately inform and sufficiently mobilize citizens to act in way that promotes peace and harmony. This mandate no doubt may have informed this one day conference put together by the NOA on National security Sensitisation against political Thuggery, kidnapping, drug addiction, radicalization and violent extremism held in Abuja. In his welcome remarks, NOA Director General, Dr Garba Abari raised concerns over the state of affairs on the country attributing the current security concerns, drug abuse and other social vices as threats to peaceful coexistence and the 2023 General elections. He however expressed hope that the outcome of the summit will initiate measures that will change the narrative. As expected, the conference attracted dignitaries from various divides including top government functionaries, security , traditional institutions among others . Highlights of papers presented indicates strategies to combating radicalization, violent extremism, and youth restiveness, drug abuse and social vices and impact on vandalism. The theme of the one day session is Building a Secured and Safer Nigeria for All.
