The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a power outage affecting Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba and several other communities following a fault on the Apo–Karu 132kV transmission line.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, TCN said the transmission line tripped at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, October 12, resulting in a loss of electricity supply to the Karu Transmission Substation.

The company said its engineers identified a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2 during a physical inspection of the line.

TCN said its maintenance crew was scheduled to carry out urgent repairs on Tuesday to restore the faulty transmission line to service.

The outage has affected the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to supply electricity to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba and adjoining communities.

The transmission company apologised to affected electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
