2027: Lagos leads As 103.4 million voters prepare To decide Nigeria’s next president
Lagos State has emerged with the highest number of registered voters ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says the national voter register has risen to 103.4 million.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this in Abuja at a national stakeholders’ meeting and world press conference marking 100 days to the 2027 general elections.
Amupitan who said the national register now stands at 103,428,715 voters, following the completion of the three-phase Continuous Voter Registration exercise and final biometric clean up, added that
Lagos tops the latest voter register with 7,488,633 registered voters with Kano and Kaduna following closely.
The INEC chairman assured stakeholders that lessons learnt from the conduct of recent off-cycle elections and by-elections will guide the commission as it prepares for the 2027 polls.
Other stakeholders at the meeting, including the representative of the Inspector-General of Police, AIG Francis Agu, also emphasised the need for all actors to work together to ensure that the 2027 elections reflect the will of the people.

The stakeholders’ meeting comes as the 2027 general elections enter the final 100-day countdown.
The briefing provides INEC an opportunity to update political parties, security agencies, civil society organisations, observers and other stakeholders on its level of preparedness, including the voters’ register, logistics and measures to safeguard the integrity of the polls.
