President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the change of name of the Ministry of Science and Technology to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja. He said the change of name was to facilitate economic growth and global competitiveness as well as make Nigeria a nation of innovators. Other gains of the gesture Onu noted includes initiating a shift in Research and development (R&D) that is industry and services demand driven. The minister further assured of efforts to deliver on the new initiative by using STI to overcome some of the nations key challenges.
