The Federal Government has advised Christian Pilgrims to be of good character and abscorn from acts that will ruin their reputation and bring shame to Nigeria. This is as the Second batch of christian Pilgrims from Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Ekiti, Akwa Ibom states and the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) depart to the kingdom of Jordan for pilgrimage. Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said this at the official flag off of the 2nd batch of Christian pilgrims to the Kingdom of Jordan at the Pilgrims Wing, General Aviation Terminal I of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Represented by the Permanent Secretary, OSGF, Dr Maurice Nnamdi, Mustapha stated that pilgrimage is not for tourist attraction but a spiritual adventure. He added that the exercise also present opportunity to recover themselves and strengthen their faith in God. Earlier in his remarks the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev Yakubu Pam stated that 300 out of the 2500 pilgrims expected to perform the 2020 pilgrimage are on self-sponsorship. He further explained indications that informed the choice of Jordan for the pilgrimage exercise. Recall that the first batch of christian pilgrims left for the holy land on Saturday through the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang, Jos, Plateau state. The theme of this year’s pilgrimage exercise is “Pilgrimage for Peace and Development.”
