The Federal Government has pledged to upgrade the infrastructure at the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) to strengthen its capacity as a center for military and civilian specialized training.

The Honourable Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Gwabin Musa, announced the commitment during a meeting with the university’s Governing Council at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

As part of the planned developments, the Ministry and the university’s council agreed to construct a Centre for Military Performance Management on the campus, which Musa described as the first facility of its kind in Africa.

Musa stated that the Ministry will work directly with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to fully utilize the 30 percent admission quota reserved for military personnel, aiming to address specialized skill gaps within the national security sector.

He urged members of the military, ministry staff, and the public to take advantage of the institution’s academic and technological programs.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Pioneer Pro-Chancellor of NAUB and retired Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai praised the Minister’s leadership and strategic support for the nation’s defence sector. Buratai added that the university community remains committed to advancing academic excellence, research, and national service.
