The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Wednesday inaugurated the Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre (PRC), a ₦1 billion facility donated by the Borno State Government to boost computer based examinations and registration services in the North East.
Oloyede, accompanied by the incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, commissioned the ultra modern facility built on a 5,300 square metre site. The centre is fully fenced and landscaped and is powered by a dedicated 300kVA transformer.
According to a statement by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the complex comprises eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration areas and 16 convenience facilities.
The centre also features two Computer-Based Test (CBT) halls equipped with 275 computers each, enabling it to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily during examinations. It also has two waiting halls with a combined capacity of 500 candidates, supported by six additional convenience facilities.
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, laid the foundation for the project on February 24, 2026, and it was completed in less than six months, ahead of schedule.
Speaking at the inauguration, Oloyede described the project as a landmark investment in education and expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for his support of JAMB. He said the facility would significantly improve access to registration and computer based examinations for candidates across the North-East.
He also commended the Borno State Government’s broader investment in education, noting that the JAMB delegation was impressed by the network of smart schools established across the state.
The incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, praised the partnership between JAMB and the Borno State Government and called for its sustenance to further strengthen educational development and the Board’s operations.
In his remarks, Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, describing it as the most effective tool for addressing the state’s social and economic challenges. He disclosed that the state government invested more than ₦1 billion in the construction of the mega CBT centre, saying the long term benefits of the project would far outweigh its cost.
