Nigeria is Ready For 4th Industrial Revolution – Prof. Danbatta

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta says Nigeria is not lacking in key policy and regulatory frameworks and instruments that will power the 4th Industrial Revolution.
He gave the indication while delivering a keynote address at the Virtual 3rd Discourse Series of the Advocate Law Practice with the theme: “Powering the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Nigeria”.
Represented by the Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, Barrister, Adeleke Adewolu, the NCC Boss said Nigeria is not lacking in key Policy and Regulatory framework.
The EVC emphasised that for Nigeria to fully harness the opportunities of the 4th Industrial Revolution as a nation, effective guiding frameworks must be put in place to address the various aspects of the digital ecosystem and ensure their effective interworking in the national interest.
Prof. Danbatta further noted  that the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy Policy (2020-2030) which boasts of eight (8) pillars is designed to champion the 4th Industrial Revolution which according to him will enables Nigeria to become a leading player in the global digital economy; provides a catalyst to facilitate the diversification of the economy; and accelerates the attainment of the key national objectives of improving security, reducing corruption as well as expanding the economy.
The NCC boss however, identified other strategies that will enable the telecommunications sector to provide the infrastructure backbone for powering the 4th Industrial Revolution in Nigeria which include the Nigerian National Broadband Policy (2020-2024), that highlighted the various implementation strategies to aid the pervasive inclusion and rollout of broadband services across the country to facilitate a robust and swift development of a digital economy.
“Nigeria is not lacking in key Policy and Regulatory frameworks and instruments which will enable us to play a leading role in powering the 4th Industrial Revolution,” he said.
