The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) have described the recent ranking of Apapa and Tincan ports among the world’s most improved ports as evidence that the economic reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration are delivering positive results.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group said the achievement reflects the administration’s commitment to placing Nigeria on the path of sustainable economic growth.
According to the statement, Nigeria’s maritime sector has received a significant boost following the release of the World Bank’s 2025 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) in June 2026.
“We, the Tinubu Media Volunteers, note that with this ranking, Nigeria’s maritime sector has received a major boost based on the World Bank’s latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI),” the group stated.
TMV noted that the recognition highlights the progress made by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in improving port efficiency, reducing vessel turnaround time and enhancing overall operational performance.
The group explained that the CPPI provides a data driven assessment of port performance and tracks improvements in efficiency and service delivery across global maritime hubs.
It added that the inclusion of Apapa and Tincan ports among the top 20 most improved ports globally reflects the NPA’s ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure, improve operational efficiency and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in international trade.
According to TMV, the improvements in port infrastructure have contributed to Nigeria recording trade surpluses over the past three years while also enhancing the ease of doing business in the country.
The group further argued that the development is boosting investor confidence and attracting increased foreign direct investment into the Nigerian economy.
TMV expressed confidence that the latest ranking would further position Nigerian ports as leading trade gateways for the West and Central African regions.
