Shinkafi Picks Zamfara Senate Nomination Form
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has obtained expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the Zamfara North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election.
Shinkafi, who previously contested for governor in Zamfara State, said his decision to run for the Senate followed calls from stakeholders in Zamfara North Senatorial District seeking what they described as bold and progressive representation.
He noted concerns among constituents over what they see as a lack of effective representation in the Senate since 1999, as well as agitation for equitable rotation of the senatorial seat among local government areas within the district.
According to him, demands have grown for the seat to be zoned to Shinkafi Local Government Area in the interest of fairness, equity, and inclusiveness.
Shinkafi said he intends to contribute to lawmaking and attract development projects to the constituency, particularly in addressing challenges such as armed banditry, displacement, cattle rustling, and kidnapping.
He added that his experience in national and state politics would be deployed to advance development in the zone in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Shinkafi also expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects in Zamfara State, stating that the party remains strong and is well positioned to win future elections, including the 2027 presidential poll.
