The Women Leaders Support Advancement Group has launched a major medical outreach programme in Kano State, targeting underserved communities, particularly women and children, as part of efforts to improve citizens’ well-being.

The initiative is expected to benefit no fewer than 1,500 women and children drawn from all 44 local government areas of the state, with free medications, medical tests, and referrals for more serious health conditions.

At the flag-off of the programme at Sharada Primary Healthcare Centre in Kano, the National Coordinator of the group, Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, said the outreach is designed to support vulnerable groups in line with the state government’s development agenda.

The Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Yusuf, commended the initiative, noting that it will significantly benefit residents of Kano metropolis and the wider state who need medical attention.

Also speaking, the Co-Founder of the group and wife of the APC National Chairman, Dr. Martina Yilwatda, praised the support of the Kano State Government, saying the goal is to deliver healthcare services to the underprivileged and vulnerable.

The health intervention programme, which runs through the weekend, features a team of 64 medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory scientists, supported by local volunteers.
Beneficiaries are receiving screenings for diabetes, hypertension, malaria, hepatitis, and other health conditions.
