TDF Dismisses Intersociety’s ‘1,402 Christians Killed’ Claim, Urges Probe.

The Democratic Front (TDF) has described claims by Onitsha based group Intersociety that 1,402 Christians were killed in 96 days as false, malicious, and intended to tarnish the image of the Nigerian government and President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group said the allegation was part of a sustained campaign of calumny that should not be ignored.

TDF alleged that Intersociety, led by Emeka Umeagbalasi, had previously circulated misleading narratives on insecurity, which it claimed contributed to international misperceptions about Nigeria’s security situation.

The group also alleged links between Intersociety and the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), citing claims by security agencies, and described the latest report as inciting and lacking credible evidence.

According to TDF, the organisation failed to provide verifiable details regarding the alleged killings, including locations, timelines, and circumstances surrounding the incidents.

While acknowledging the persistence of inter ethnic and inter religious violence in Nigeria, the group maintained that both Muslims and Christians have been affected, rejecting what it described as a one-sided portrayal of the crisis.

TDF further warned that such claims could damage Nigeria’s international reputation and strain diplomatic relations if left unaddressed.

The group called on the Federal Government to investigate the allegations and hold Intersociety accountable, insisting that the organisation must provide verifiable proof of its claims or face legal consequences.

The statement also urged authorities not to treat the matter lightly, warning that unverified reports capable of inciting religious tension could undermine national stability at a time the government is intensifying efforts to address insecurity.
