The DG said the noble feat would facilitate effective administration and utilization of both NYSC radio and Television stations in the pursuit of the Scheme’s mandate.

General Ahmed added that Management would ensure that the new department thrives through local content from stakeholders and Corps Members.

He commended the NYSC Public Relations Officers for their diligence in the discharge of their official responsibilities, including ensuring efficient management of NYSC public functions and adequate publicity of NYSC programmes, which has enhanced the good image of the Scheme.

“While Management would continue to expand the coast of Public Relations Officers, it expects you to fulfil the statutory requirement for the practice of Public Relations by enrolling into the relevant professional bodies as members”, the DG said.

The Director General also implored the workshop participants to use the available platforms to sensitize Corps Members on security consciousness and also on the dangers of night journey, boarding of vehicles at unauthorized locations among other risky acts.

In his address, the Director, Information and Public Relations, Mr Eddy Megwa said the annual NYSC Public Relations Officers’ Workshop is a veritable platform for officers to acquire requisite knowledge on contemporary issues influencing the practice of the profession.

He added that it is a training programme meant to keep officers on top of their game with a view to equip them adequately for effective management of the corporate image of the Scheme.

There were goodwill messages from the President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr Ike Neliaku and National President, Nigerian Union of Journalists, represented by the National Secretary, Mr Achike Chide.
