FG Explores Diplomatic Options To Recover Missing Artifacts.
The federal government says it will explore diplomatic strategy to recover missing artifacts especially those that represent Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Oyeama gave the indication at a ceremony in Abuja put together to receive stolen artifacts recovered from the United States of America in November 2021.
He said efforts are in top gear to construct museums of international standard where the repatriated artifacts would be kept inline with government policy to boost the nation’s culture and tourism potentials.
Ealier in his remarks, Nigeria’s Consul General, New York, Amb Peter Lot Egopija gave a brief history of the recoverd art works.
Meanwhile, the Director General, National Commission for Meseums and Monument Abba Tijjani, while commending the efforts of the Minister, said, the task to recover Nigeria’s missing artifacts requires the collective support of all stakeholders.
The three recovered artifacts were however handed over to the National Commission for Meseums and Monument.
