The Ministry of Youths is collaborating with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC to Protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across the country.

A statement signed by the Corps’ National PRO, Babawale Afolabi and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA said the move was in line with the Presidential Initiative for Youths Enterprise clusters.

According to the Minister of Youths, Jamila Bio Ibrahim who was on courtesy visit to the NSCDC, National headquarters in Abuja said without the primary place of security, infrastructure and investments would be exposed to great risk.

The Minister said it is pertinent to explore areas of synergy and collaborations with the Ministry of Interior and the NSCDC to enhance the successful take-off of the initiative that will provide more jobs to the citizenry.

The Minister explained that the enterprise clusters which will eventually translate into critical national assets would at the pilot phase be established in the six geopolitical zones.

He however, commended the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi for mapping out the requisite strategies to expand the scope of the Corps across the nation.

Mr. Ibrahim further expressed optimism that the presence of NSCDC in the 36 states, 774 Local Government areas and the FCT wil be a driving force in the youths enterprise initiative.

“We need to send a strong message to our investors to assure them that their investments are guaranteed with the adequate security network that we would be exploring while collaborating with the NSCDC.

“Your inputs as regards the draft of these clusters as it concerned security are notably welcome,” he said.

Responding, the NSCDC Commandant General said the presidential initiative will go a long way in engaging youths nationwide and ameliorate crimes in the nation.

“It is very germane that the government is bringing about an initiative that would engage the youths, putting them into clusters to provide them with the platform to contribute to Nigeria’s development. The NSCDC is therefore ready to key into any initiative of your ministry,” he said.
