NBS Pegs Unemployment Rate at 4.1% In Q1, Revises Labour Data.

Nigeria’s unemployment the rate for the first quarter of 2023 has been pegged at 4.1% against the 5.3% recorded in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The figure is part of the labour data for the fourth quarter 2022 and first quarter 2023 released by the Bureau to newsmen in Abuja.

Speaking at the occasion,the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu assured of efforts by the present administration to tackle the unemployment challenges in the country.

He said the federal government policy direction is tailored towards unlocking the potentials embedded in Nigerians for national growth and development.

Earlier, the Statistician General and Chief Executive Officer of the NBS, Adeyemi Adeniran analysed the details of the nations unemployment profile as captured in the latest labour survey.

He further gave a breakdown on how the figure for both quarters was processed.

Additional details from the NBS indicates that the data collection for the revised Nigeria Labour Force Survey was conducted with a sample of 35,520 households nationwide with national-level results produced quarterly,while state-level results were arrived at the end of a complete year.
