The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos State chapter has commended president Bola Tinubu for inviting the leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress for a dialogue after their nationwide protest over fuel subsidy removal.
Methodist Bishop of Ikeja Diocese,Lagos who doubles as the Chairman of CAN in the state, Bishop Stephen Adegbite noted that Tinubu showed a father figure by taking the initiative to provide more clarity on a number of things labour leaders felt were not clear enough.
Briefing journalists in Abuja, Adegbite said president Tinubu’s posture since his announcement of the subsidy removal shows that he is a listening President who is interested in getting things done in national interest.
Adegbite further appealed to Nigerians to support progressive initiatives and to hold their leaders accountable, saying that their dreams of having a great nation can be achieved by working together.
The organized labour on Wednesday made true its vow to protest over fuel subsidy removal and hardship in the country by staging protests across the federation.
