Moral Decadence in Basic Schools, a Cankerworm That Must be Fought- UBEC
Over the years, there has been great concern over the degeneration of morals and values in the society and nation at large.
The development no doubt has resulted in vices and negative behaviors such as stealing, drunkenness, financial crimes, violence, and many others.
The worst of these concern is that the vices are now prevalent in schools especially at the basic level. It is however not surprising that the Universal Basic Education Commission with mandate to inculcate values and raise morally upright individuals capable of independent thinking is committed to change the narrative.
The 2 day stakeholders meeting on Moral Regeneration and Re orientation at the Basic Education level attracted key stakeholders who in their submission commended the commission for the initiative saying it’s outcome will go a long way in building a society where people will demonstrate appropriate behavior.
It is expected that communique from the meeting will assist UBEC to chart an effective way of implementing the moral regeneration and orientation programme in basic education.
