Exclusive: Amidst Challenges, Nigeria’s Power Sector Is Waxing Stronger – TCN
Nigeria has been riddled with with epileptic power supply due to the poor state of its power sector. This has in many ways negatively affected the Nations economy and despite efforts put in place by successive governments, there seems to be no significant progress. According to experts, corruption, mismanagement of resources, poor maintenance, infrastructural decay among others are some of the many factors militating against the revival of the sector. In a bid to boost power generation and put a permanent end to the erratic power supply in the country, the Goodluck Jonathan administration, in September 2013, initiated the privatization process of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, unbundling it into 6 generation companies, a transmission company and 11 distribution companies.
