The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour power outage in parts of Abuja on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, as it carries out maintenance work at its 132/33kV Kukwaba Transmission Substation.
The maintenance, scheduled for 10am to 4pm, will involve the replacement of a faulty line circuit breaker on the 33kV L36 feeder connected to one of the substation’s 60MVA 132/33kV power transformers.
TCN said the exercise will affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to receive power for onward distribution to customers in Idu Railway Station, Idu Industrial Zone, CITEC Estate and parts of Lifecamp.
Customers supplied through the Wuye 1 and Wuye 2 Injection Substations will also be affected during the maintenance period.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the planned outage, saying the maintenance is necessary to replace the faulty equipment.
