Power Outage Looms In Parts Of Kogi As TCN Begins Maintenance On Ajaokuta Substation
Residents and electricity consumers in Adogo, Anyigba, Ganaja and adjoining areas of Kogi State are expected to experience a power outage on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out scheduled maintenance on its Ajaokuta 330/132kV Transmission Substation.
According to a statement issued by TCN management on Monday, the maintenance exercise will take place between 10am and 3pm.
The company said the exercise is part of its annual preventive maintenance programme and is necessary to enable its maintenance crew to work on the bay switchgear and associated equipment on the 132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Line 1.
TCN explained that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to off take electricity to customers in the affected areas during the exercise.
“Power supply will be restored immediately after the maintenance exercise is completed,” the statement assured.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause.
