Peacebuilders To Be Honoured As DICAN Hosts Global Leaders, Envoys At 2026 Confab
The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) has announced that distinguished institutions and personalities will be honoured for their pivotal roles in ensuring global peace during its upcoming international conference.
The awards ceremony will lead the discourse at the high-level summit themed: “Information Warfare (FIMI): Strengthening Global Security, Trade and Investment Through Collaborative Truth: Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media.”
Speaking on the strategic vision behind the conference, the Chairman of DICAN, Idehai Frederick, emphasized that the event transcends traditional diplomacy.
He noted that in the face of current global tensions, the “weaponization of information” has become a direct threat to the global economy.
”The integrity of information is the bedrock of international commerce. “When Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) is allowed to thrive, it doesn’t just create political instability; it erodes investor confidence, disrupts supply chains, and devalues national assets.
“This conference is a call for a ‘Collaborative Truth’ to safeguard the global trade and investment landscape,” he said.
The urgency of the theme is reflected in the high-profile list of confirmed participants.
The United States Ambassador, the Chinese Ambassador, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS are set to lead discussions alongside representatives from over 100 diplomatic missions at the conference scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026 by 10:00am at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.
The gathering will bring together critical stakeholders from the intelligence community, trade and investment as well as the media to address how “collaborative truth” can serve as a shield for global markets in an era of hybrid warfare.
As geopolitical rivalries increasingly play out in the digital and information spheres, the conference is being hailed as an apt and necessary intervention.
By aligning the interests of diplomacy, intelligence and media, the summit seeks to create a stable environment where trade can flourish despite rising international friction.
By recognizing the contributions of peacebuilders while simultaneously tackling the complexities of information warfare, DICAN is positioning Nigeria as a central hub for the global dialogue on security-conscious investment and diplomatic transparency.
