Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to international peacekeeping and global security efforts.
Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) disclosed this during an operational visit to the Defence Section at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations after attending the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
He said Government is determined to restore and expand the country’s role in peace operations worldwide.
In a statement signed by Leah Katung-Babatunde, Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of Defence indicates that the Minister who received a briefing on the section’s strategic activities and operational commitments from the Defence Attaché, Brigadier General E.A. Koleosho commended the Defence Section for their professionalism, loyalty and dedication to the ideals of the United Nations and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains committed to reinvigorating Nigeria’s participation in international peacekeeping operations as part of broader efforts to promote global stability and security.
Earlier, the Defence Minister joined Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, who led the Nigerian delegation to the opening session of the 81st UN General Assembly at the UN Headquarters.
The visit formed part of Nigeria’s engagements at the annual gathering of world leaders, diplomats and international stakeholders in New York.
