The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has elevated former Acting Chairman of Garki Ward in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Moses Okorie, into its FCT Working Committee as Assistant Publicity Secretary, as the party moves to strengthen its grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Okorie’s elevation followed a strategic meeting of the Garki Ward and FCT Reconciliation Community held at the party’s national headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja. His nomination by the party’s FCT senatorial candidate, Barrister Amanda Pam, received the concurrence of other state executives present. He also emerged as the NDC leader in Garki Ward.

A journalist, Okorie pledged to deploy his professional experience, media contacts and grassroots relationships to promote the party’s programmes and candidates across the FCT. He also promised to work with the FCT Publicity Secretary, Pastor Samuel Iloh, to strengthen the party’s publicity network and effectively communicate its message to residents.

“I appreciate Barrister Amanda Pam for the confidence reposed in me. I will use my connections as a journalist to propagate the activities of the NDC across the FCT and work hand in hand with my immediate boss, Pastor Samuel Iloh,” Okorie said.

Meanwhile, Dr Okechukwu Ironkwe has emerged as the new Chairman of Garki Ward, with Okorie formally handing over the ward’s membership register and other administrative records to him.

Party members said the restructuring would enhance coordination and grassroots mobilisation, while reaffirming their support for the NDC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 polls, including Hassan Grema for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Amanda Pam for the Senate, and the presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
