Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has directed Commissioners of Police and other senior officers across the country to strengthen surveillance, improve intelligence gathering and deepen collaboration with other security agencies in tackling insecurity.

Disu gave the directive during a strategic meeting with senior police officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police and above at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

He directed every Commissioner of Police to develop command-specific security strategies that reflect the realities in their respective states.

Highlighting recent operational achievements, Disu disclosed that the police arrested 1,198 suspects nationwide for offences including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, banditry and unlawful possession of firearms.

He also commended members of the public whose information, he said, contributed to the success of the rescue operation, adding that lasting security depends on a genuine partnership between the police and the community.
